my family is part of alabama folk history

it’s GOOD to be home
and near family.

this past weekend i went with my grandma mozell and mother to
a gallery showcase in montgomery by the Alabama State Council on the Arts called
Carry On: Celebrating Twenty Years
of the Alabama Folk Arts Apprenticeship Program”.

my mom is a quilting apprentice to my grandmother
– renown in the folk art circles for her quilts –
and both were featured in the exhibit
as part of some of alabama’s folk artists
which include folk artists from nigeria, india and laos
who now live in alabama.

the exhibit is going on until 28 feb,
if you’re in the montgomery area.
