maybe folks in amman don’t cook until ramadhan.
i’ve never smelled so many delicious scents
emanating from so many apartment kitchens
every day of the week.
it must be the ramadhan iftars
that make folks blow the dust off of auntie maryam’s ancient family recipes
and start cooking like there will be a spice shortage after the next 29 or 30 days.
