tired of the same-ole for breakfast –
either
oatmeal,
pancakes,
cereal, or
eggs & meat –

i found a simple recipe for drop biscuits online
and satisfied my craving for biscuits and syrup.

i used to watch my grandma mozell make biscuits
on her kitchen table in the mornings.
she’d give me the scraps of dough to eat.
her table was so seasoned that there was a smooth brown spot
– more of a rich brown than the rest of the table –
where she would always knead the dough.
she would cut the dough into small circles
with a flour covered glass cup.
delicious memories.

to this day, i love raw dough.
even flower and spit taste good to me.

the biscuits were so good that
i think i’m going to make them once a week.
