aya’s aqiqah
we had aya’s aqiqah last monday, 7 may.
aya was just 3 days short of 2 months,
which is, i think, the earliest we’ve had an aqiqah for any of our children.
i forgot the camera
(sorry, mom)
but i had the girls decked out in colorful dresses,
and aya had on a flowery number that ishaq described as
“the anti-kori”
but she was cute.
a sister from the states
who lives here now, saada ummFatimah,
cooked all the food.
we had:
baked beans, BBQ chicken, peanut butter stew w/ lamb,
coleslaw, cornbread, white rice, brown rice,
two kinds of brownies
and another sister brought a cake with “mabrook” written on it embossed with real flowers.
delish.
and not an arab dish in sight.
nice to have a change.
the picture of the flowers
is the bee-you-tiful bouquet that the folks from qasid sent to us
on the occasion of aya’s birth.
it smelled wonderful
and to me represented all the wonderful gifts
of food, dua and other kindnesses
showered on us during that time.
Allah is the Most Merciful!
i made a little thank you cark with this on the cover:

(shukran - thank you, in arabic)
the girls colored it with markers
and we gave it to all the folks that helped us out during that time.
we had a wonderful time, alHamdullilah.
