mommy moment: 23 apr 07

some background first:
qasid organized a trip to the dead sea.
some folks went to the beach,
most went hiking in the gorges.
i wish i could’ve gone.
hiking, that is.
in fact, ishaq and i both wished we could’ve gone hiking,
but alas, we are parents of young children
so we went to the beach.
we’d been to the dead sea before
although we’d gone more of a local spot
as opposed to a tourist spot.
this spot was called amman beach.
we had to pay 5JD to get in,
then they charged 1JD for a beach chair and a table.
the beach was nice.
it actually looked like a typical beach,
with palm trees and sand,
instead of rocks like in the other spot we went to.
the weather was just on the warm side of hot,
but not too hot.
but the wind…

the table ended up coming in handy.
it had been a bit windy when we first went in,
but the wind picked up so much that
we had to turn the table on it’s side
and squat behind it
at an attempt to stop the sand from getting in our eyes.

after a while,
with the kids crying,
sand getting all over aya’s face
even though she was covered with a blanket,
and sand in my mouth,
we took shelter in the beach restaurant.

since, we weren’t trying to pay the 8JD per head
for buffet that they were charging,
we gathered everyone up and found a local restaurant called
the kazablanca.
– them jordanians and their english, man. (smile) –
the food was decent.
the environment quaint and child-friendly.
it was a nice place to wait for the hikers to return.

but here’s the mommy moment:
while we were taking shelter in the over-priced beach restaurant
we were sitting at the table waiting for everyone to get together
so we could leave.
sanaa is conversating with the brothers.
after a short silence,
this is what comes out of her mouth:
“sometimes i get wedgies.”

sweet.
