hajjah sanaa
sanaa — and rahmah — is attending al-raihan school here in amman.
she’s getting immersed more than me.
only one of her teachers speaks english
although many of the students are english speakers.
she just had a hajj party at school
and i was wowed at what this little school
with about 30 students
from ages 1 - 6,
and only 5 teachers
and a cleaning lady who acts like a teacher did
to put the love of islam and hajj in the hearts of the children there.

it all started with getting on “the plane” with a hajj visa:

they had it all
(not in order):
making tawaf around the kaba

ibrahim’s station:

running between safa and marwa:

drinking zamzam:

praying on arafat:

sleeping at mina:

collecting stones for jamarat:

(i missed the actual stone throwing ’cause rahmah was hungry.)
they even snipped a bit of hair:

inshaAllah, rahmah will have a similar opportunity.

she was even chanting “labayk allahuma labayk…”
from hearing the older children practicing for the hajj party.
after the “hajj” the kids tore open a home-made, jordanian style pinata filled with treats.
it was lovely!
