ramadan 1427/2006: blessing tree

this is late in coming,
but i’m so pleased that we actually did it,
that i had to share.

we got this idea from a muslim link article:
the ramadan blessing tree.

after i had fun drawing and painting the tree
(i actually had to mix red, green and a bit of yellow
cause i couldn’t find any brown paint),
we talked about what a blessing is
and how Allah blesses us with everything we have/are.

after we put our relatives on the blessing tree
(cause i didn’t read about it until about 15 or so days into ramadan)
every day, sanaa identified a blessing in her life.

i wrote it in pencil on a leaf
(multi-colored because this year ramadan was in the fall
– a few leaves are black because that is sanaa’s favorite color)
and she wrote over it in marker.
then, she taped it to the tree
after saying “Thank you, Allah, for [whatever]!”
sometimes we did two so rahmah could tape one as well.

we also did some star and crescent cookies
and gave them out after Eid prayer.

alHamdullilah, we had a good time,
remembered Allah’s blessings,
and shared a few blessings ourselves.
