hyperthyroid pregnancy? not claimin’ it

so blood tests say i’ve got a hyperactive thyroid.
the midwives say i should see an endocrinologist.
i went ahead and made an appointment
even though i’m not claiming it.

this same thing happened when i was pregnant with sanaa
about 3 years ago
and it turned out that my body corrected itself, alHamdulillah.

but the midwives say that hyperthyroidism
can affect the baby.
web research says it may result in
early labor, a smaller than expected baby,
or even the baby getting a hyperthyroid because of hormones from mommy.

once again, i ain’t claiming it.

i remember, also with my first pregnancy,
i had some hard lumps in my breast.
i wasn’t worried, but ishaq wanted me to have it checked out.
i went to 2 doctors that day
and later saw a specialist that extracted cells from these “lumps” with a long needle.
what was it?: breast milk.
my body was preparing itself for baby to come.
and she did, shortly after.
as they say: better safe than sorry.

i’m happy to announce that my ptyalism is on the decline.
i don’t use my spit bottle as much as i used to.
i may be able to get rid of that nasty thing altogether pretty soon.
yipee!
