atlanta home search
while looking for a house in atlanta
i had to have some fun with the girls.
we went to the georgia aquarium.
we found a place for sanaa to take a swimming lesson.
this sister (sis. jenny) in powder springs
opened up her home to muslim children
who want lessons or for open swim.
we went to the local library.
we went to kidfest 2006.
between that, i looked at houses.
atlanta is boomin!
construction everywhere.
even in the country parts of atlanta.
i just discovered that atlanta can get really country.
during my previous stay in atlanta while in college
i was either in the ‘hood
(all historically black colleges seem to be in the ‘hood)
or downtown.
i didn’t have a car,
so i only went where my trusty mongoose (bicycle)
or a friend/family member could take me.
during this house search
i went down by lakewood avenue in SE atlanta
and thought i was near my grandma fannie’s house in lanett, alabama.
the houses were huge
and some even beautiful,
but it was quiet,
folks walked around in the middle of the street,
and i expected to see children walking around outside
barefoot with only a pair of “draws” (read: “underwear”) to keep cool in the heat.
