maybe not yemen…jordan!

it’s been yemen, yemen, yemen
for so long that i was kinda disappointed.
ishaq had even emailed me some hadith
about the benefit of yemen in reference to relationship to (the right, i think, of) the kaba.

we rationalized that
our first extended stay overseas should be as comfortable as possible.
and maybe yemen is a little too off the beaten path for us.

so, how about jordan!qasid
a friend sent us info about qasid institute for classical arabic.
they sure do have a cool, thorough website,
if they have nothing else:
“The word qasid is used to describe a way that is direct and smooth,
and this is the way we believe the Arabic language should be taught.”

i figure if i have the opportunity to study arabic and islam anywhere,
it’s a blessing, alHamdulillah.

the only thing:
i’m not looking forward to
going to the middle east and experiencing winter.
the desert experience of yemen was also really intriguing.

i’m off to lonely planet to see what they say about jordan
