a traveling exhibit at the national building museum til 30 july.

“The Dutch government initiated the “Newer Orleans” exhibition as part of a broader effort to share its water-management expertise with the United States. More than two-thirds of the Netherlands is at or below sea level, and its flood-protection system is considered to be among the best in the world. ”
read a short blurb about it in readymade.
(great mag, but i let my subscription expire on this one b/c i didn’t actually make anything.)
i saw the glidehouse (below) at the the green house exhibit at the NBM.

they built a full-size model of a small, modern house with minimal environmental impact.
the owner of one (in a video) bragged she hardly had to turn on the lights or A/C during the day.
besides the glidehouse
they had models and pictures of contemporary green buildings
for different environments (city, suburb, waterside, desert, etc.)
as well as samples of green products for the home
from tile to toilets.
