homeschooling: begin with the word of Allah

i was watching a youtube video
titled “consider islam” yesterday.
it was a good introduction to islam
and a good reminder for me.

one part talked about how islam pervades every part of life,
i.e. how there is no division between the secular and non-secular.

a teacher in an islamic school reminded me
of what i should be doing as a homeschooling parent:

in beginning to talk about/explain/teach any topic to a child
first go to the quran and see what Allah (swt) says about it.
indeed the quran talks about and clarifies many things
in this world and the next.
in this way, the child’s spirit and intellect are developed in tandem
with islam as its underpinning, inshAllah.
