learn to read with IAHP

although i haven’t finished the book yet
How to Teach Your Baby to Read by Glenn Doman
– but i’m going to, inshAllah –
i’m starting sanaa and rahmah on the
IAHP reading program.

here are their first 15 words:

i hope to get them reading by the end of this summer.
i’m thinking that inshAllah when — not if — sanaa starts reading
i might home school her.
i’ll need to do more research on what that entails
because i know that’s a lot of work and a great commitment.

i’m looking forward to seeing the results of the IAHP programs:
reading, math, encyclopedic knowledge, mobility intelligence.
IAHP book series

my only concern is that am I doing it correctly,
not if the girls can do it.
i might join a IAHP yahoo group of which i’ve found quite a few,
some with over 1000 members.

as i discover for myself all these educational methodologies
– montessori, waldorf, IAHP, language immersion –
i wish that i had known about these when i started to consider being someone’s mommy.
i think i would have gotten a montessori certification
rather than an master’s in information & telecommunication systems from johns hopkins.
some call that 20-20 hindsight,
but Allah has allowed me to go through
all that i needed to go through so that i could be where i need to be at this moment.

one advantage that i see
is that i can do the IAHP reading cards on the computer with powerpoint myself,
adding the automatic timing and all.
folks are charging upwards of $25 for a paper set.
plus, like a child, like sanaa, i feel that i can do it myself,
which is very empowering and motivating.
i do need to connect physically or virually with other folks
so my learning curve can be shortened.
