in houston with dad

i’m visiting my dad in houston.
while here i’ve taken sanaa to
imaginations (she painted a multi-colored ladybug),
story time at the barbara bush library (harris county),
we’ve been to the houston zoo (small),
meyer park,
around the block (smile),
and we hope to go to the children’s museum next week.

sanaa and rahmah are enjoying their granddaddy.
and he is enjoying them.

rock creek church is supposed to be finished soon.
“soon” as in it is likely to be done this month.
the wood floors are in.
the sinks, toilets, dishwasher, washer & dryer
are supposed to be put in this week or so.
unfortunately the roof had a leak in it
from all the rain this week in the northeast.
if it ain’t one thing it’s another.
i’ll continue prayers for completion
and for patience.

did i mention that it’s ramadan?

“Ramadan is the (month)
in which was sent down the Qur’an,
as a guide to mankind,
also clear (signs) for guidance and judgment…”
Qur’an 2:185

it’s the 10th day of ramadan.
i am not fasting — again –
cause i’m nursing rahmah.
i am, however, tag-team reading the entire quran
in arabic
with sister katrina’s tajweed class.
i only read most of juz 10.
i feel i am getting better.
words are becoming more familiar.

i’m going to try to go to a houston-area masjid for jumuah.
i’m shy about things like that by myself.
if we feel comfortable, we may even go to iftar
and a bit of tarawir prayer this evening.

my dad has clients that are muslim and they sent me the greetings, maShAllah.
