hurricane katrina has devastated cities along the gulf coast
i believe the biloxi and gulfport, mississippi areas were the hardest hit
the news is claiming that 90% of the buildings are gone

in new orleans the levee broke
and water flooded the city
i saw tv broadcast where people were walking down the interstate
with their belongings in plastic bags and back packs
hair all disheveled

i spent some time in biloxi
at keesler air force base
so when i saw the floating casinos
on the beach instead of in the water
it hit a little closer to home
cause i had acutally been there

it is a blessing to wake up
and then it’s a blessing to wake up in the comfort of a home
